About this event:
Puberty can feel like a huge transition for girls and for the parents trying to guide them through it. From first periods and changing bodies to big emotions, friendships, hygiene, confidence, and growing independence, there’s a lot happening all at once. And knowing when, how, and what to talk about can feel surprisingly daunting.
Join us for Periods & Ponytails: Helping Girls Feel Confident Through Puberty, a candid, practical conversation designed to help parents navigate this next stage with confidence. Dr. Kim Van Dusen of The Parentologist, pelvic floor physical therapist Sara Reardon of The Vagina Whisperer, pediatrician Dr. Whitney Casares of Modern Mommy Doc, Grace Gordon of Fluxxbox, and Dr. Melisa Holmes, Co-Founder of Girlology, will bring their perspectives to the physical, emotional, and very real everyday realities of puberty.
Together, we’ll talk about when to start conversations about puberty, preparing for a first period before it happens, what’s normal when bodies begin changing, hygiene and period products, pelvic health, mood and emotional changes, body image, friendships, privacy, and how to keep communication open as girls become more independent.
Parents will leave with practical tools, language they can actually use, and a better understanding of how to help their daughters enter puberty feeling informed, prepared, and confident rather than embarrassed or afraid.
