Puberty brings big changes, from first periods and changing bodies to friendships, emotions, confidence, and growing independence. Join Dr. Melisa Holmes of Girlology, Dr. Kim Van Dusen of The Parentologist, and Jo Goodall-Thorne, co-founder of luna, for an honest, practical conversation about helping girls navigate this stage with confidence. We'll explore when to start conversations, what's normal, how to prepare for a first period, and how to support girls through the emotional and social changes of puberty. Parents will leave with practical advice to help their daughters feel informed, prepared, and comfortable in their changing bodies.

About this event:
Puberty can feel like a huge transition for girls and for the parents trying to guide them through it. From first periods and changing bodies to big emotions, friendships, hygiene, confidence, and growing independence, there's a lot happening all at once. And knowing when, how, and what to talk about can feel surprisingly daunting.
Join us for Periods & Ponytails: Helping Girls Feel Confident Through Puberty, a candid, practical conversation designed to help parents navigate this next stage with confidence.
Dr. Melisa Holmes, co-founder of Girlology and a board-certified OB-GYN specializing in pediatric and adolescent gynecology; Dr. Kim Van Dusen, licensed marriage and family therapist, registered play therapist, and founder of The Parentologist; and Jo Goodall-Thorne, co-founder of luna, will bring their perspectives to the physical, emotional, and everyday realities of growing up.
Together, we'll talk about when to start conversations about puberty, preparing for a first period, what's normal as bodies begin changing, hygiene and period products, mood swings, body image, friendships, privacy, and how to keep communication open as girls become more independent.
We'll also explore how parents can help girls navigate the confusing messages they encounter online and build confidence in understanding their own bodies.
Parents will leave with practical tools, language they can actually use, and a better understanding of how to help their daughters enter puberty feeling informed, prepared, and confident rather than embarrassed or afraid.
