Is it normal picky eating—or something you should actually be worried about? Join pediatric dietitians Sari Imberman and Shira Sussi and pediatrician and registered dietitian Dr. Liz Daniels for a practical conversation about food refusal, limited diets, mealtime battles, and what actually helps kids become more confident eaters. We’ll tackle everything from “just one bite” and separate dinners to snacks, nutrients, and when selective eating may warrant extra support. Parents will leave with realistic strategies for making feeding feel a whole lot less stressful.

About this event:
One day your toddler is happily eating everything on their plate. The next, every food is “yucky,” beige foods are suddenly the only acceptable option, and the dinner you spent 45 minutes making is met with an immediate “NO.”
Picky eating is incredibly common—but that doesn’t make it any less stressful. Parents are constantly left wondering: Is this normal? Am I making it worse? Should I insist on one bite? Make a separate meal? Hide vegetables in the pasta sauce? And at what point does picky eating become something we should actually be concerned about?
Join us for Picky Eating, Decoded: What’s Normal, What Works & When to Worry, a practical, judgment-free conversation designed to help parents understand what’s really happening at the table and how to make mealtimes feel easier.
Featuring Sari Imberman, MS, RDN, Pediatric Dietitian & Feeding Specialist and Founder of Fun with Food; Shira Sussi, MS, RD, CDN, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist; and Dr. Liz Daniels, DO, RDN, FAAP, Pediatrician & Registered Dietitian, this conversation brings together feeding, nutrition, and pediatric perspectives to help parents separate normal developmental picky eating from situations that may need additional support.
Together, we’ll discuss:
- Why picky eating develops—and why it often seems to appear overnight
- What’s normal at different ages and stages
- How much variety kids actually need
- What to do when your child refuses dinner
- Whether parents should make a separate meal
- Why pressure, bribing, negotiating, and “just one bite” can backfire
- How to introduce unfamiliar foods without creating a battle
- What to do when a child suddenly drops foods they previously loved
- How to handle snacks without ruining meals
- Whether hiding vegetables is actually helpful
- How parents can make sure selective eaters are getting enough nutrients
- Supplements and when they may—or may not—be necessary
- The difference between typical picky eating and feeding concerns that deserve additional support
- How to make family meals calmer even if your child is still selective
- How to raise a confident eater without obsessing over every bite
Most importantly, this conversation isn’t about getting your child to eat broccoli tonight. It’s about giving parents realistic tools to reduce mealtime pressure, support their child’s nutrition, and build a healthier relationship with food for the long term.
